For what they lack in size, some of the countries of Central America have surprisingly large populations. Guatemala, for example, has over 16 million people, and Honduras has nine million of its own. Only Belize, with a population of under 400,000, fails to make the three million mark. Belize also has the distinction of being the only Central American country where English is the sole official language.

A mnemonic to memorize all the countries of Central America and also the order in which they are located from north to south is: Big Gorillas Eat Hotdogs, Not Cold Pizza!
