In addition to its picturesque mountains and wonderful cities, Switzerland is known for its many pristine lakes. Not only is Lake Geneva well known, it is the largest lake in the country by both volume and area. Although it is not the largest, Lake Maggiore is the deepest lake associated with Switzerland. Close behind Lake Geneva is Lake Constance, which is fed by the Rhine River.
