King Mswati III announcing that he will change Swaziland's name to the Kingdom of eSwatini, with immediate effect.
On April 19th, 2018, the king of Swaziland, Africa’s last absolute monarchy, announced that his country has changed its name to the Kingdom of eSwatini to mark 50 years of independence from British rule, and also to avoid confusion with Switzerland. The new name means "land of the Swazis".
We have not yet implemented this name change in Seterra, since we first want to see if the name gets commonly used. Wikipedia is still using the old name, Swaziland. When, and if, Wikipedia starts using the new name, we will change it too!
