Germany is right in the heart of Europe. It shares a border with nine other countries, which is the most of any country on the continent. That number increases to eleven if you include the maritime borders it shares with Sweden and the United Kingdom. Although it may appear that the longest land border is with Poland, its border with Austria is considerably longer, as is the border with the Netherlands.
