Guatemala derives from the Nahualtl word Quuahtlemallan meaning “the land of trees” and the country certainly lives up to the name with a plethora of national parks ranging from mangrove forests, natural caves and lagoons, to Tikal National Park. This was the first mixed UNESCO World Heritage site, which means that cultural as well as natural wonders are included. In this case - Maya ruins in the jungle.
